Recent developments of high-performance PM HSS and tool steels -

A review is given of recent successful developments of advanced process technology to manufacture PM HSS and tool steels, by inert gas atomization and hot isostatic pressing. These advances have resulted both in improved established PM grades as well as in new unique fully-dense PM steels such as nitrogen-alloyed grades with most interesting materials and functional properties. Examples will also be presented of promising and emerging applications of large NNS components produced by Hipping.
