Trends in gear manufacturing - Philipp Kauffmann, WZL-RWTH Aachen, Germany
In recent years, the gear manufacturing industry has been confronted not only with technical requirements such as quality and load carrying capacity combined with continuously rising power density but also with economic pressure through exploding prices for raw material and energy. The challenges point to the development of processes with which resources can be preserved and which are energy-efficient. The present paper will offer an overview of the requirements on gears and the resulting possibilities for the design of processes.
Furthermore, the existing process limits will be introduced and solutions will be pointed out.
