PM's contribution to the evolution of the automobile engine - Dr Cesar Molins, AMES SA, Spain

Automobile engines have experienced dramatic improvements in the last 20 years in terms of weight, power density, fuel efficiency, emissions, reliability and durability among other aspects. Powder Metallurgy has  had an increasing presence in the components of the automobile engines facilitating and sometimes enabling some of the engine improvements. This paper presents a range of the new PM applications in car engines through the last 20 years and the technological improvements that were needed to achieve the new goals.
